Dance

All lessons support Kentucky and National Core Arts Standards in Dance, with an emphasis on the anchor standards Creating and Performing.

Suggested Classroom Application

  1. EXPLORE: At the beginning of a unit or sequence of lessons, play a “Creating” video. “Creating” videos introduce key ideas and encourage students to explore communicating through the art form.

  2. PRACTICE: Integrate the ideas, skills, and activities introduced in the video into classroom instruction. Provide opportunities for students to practice communicating through the art form throughout their learning.

  3. DEMONSTRATE: At the end of a unit or sequence of lessons, play a “Performing” video. “Performing” videos model ways students can demonstrate understanding of both the art form and other subject areas. Try the strategy modeled in the video as a formative assessment in your classroom, providing an opportunity for students to plan, rehearse, and share their performances.
